Hi, I’m Céline, the artist behind Saltwater Tones, a creative space where my love for the ocean, surfing, and art all come together.

I've always been drawn to art. I’ve always been drawn to art, though, to be honest, as a kid I was almost exclusively drawn to drawing horses. I was a bit obsessed. I came across a piece by an Australian artist — a dreamy, flowing image of a woman surfing — and it totally pulled me in. The lines, the colors, the feeling it gave me. I tried to recreate something in that spirit, but no matter how I approached it, it never quite landed that feeling.

That is, until a good friend looked at the original and casually said, “You know this is digital, right?” It was such a lightbulb moment, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t realized it sooner. Instantly, I bought myself an iPad, downloaded Procreate, and started experimenting again, this time digitally. What began as playful exploration soon turned into a passion. I kept creating, and before long, friends and family began encouraging me to share my work with the world.

One afternoon, sitting with a close friend, we brainstormed names and opened an Instagram page. That’s when Saltwater Tones was born. A name that felt right. It captured the essence of my art, even if ironically, my color palette leans more into earthy tones than classic ocean blues.

Today, Saltwater Tones is about more than just illustrations. It's about sharing pieces of feeling, movement, and calm — scattered like driftwood on the shore — for others to find and connect with in their own way.
